SCX4 marks huge success for DCC
Less than a year after our first cyclocross race and only months after becoming a round of Scotland's biggest CX league, over 500 racers descended on the sedate Fife College Campus in Halbeath for SCX4. Sunday had been months in the making with organisers Paul Davies, Andrew Bell, John Woodrow, and David Tibbs having devoted countless hours in the run up to the event planning routes and setting up the course.
Race day started at 7am for the dedicated volunteers from DCC and other local cycling clubs. Although most of the setting up had been done the previous day by other volunteers, plenty was still to be done before the the under 8s race could commence. With the course now marked, the timing set up and the riders ready the first race of the day was underway. A great race report by Eric Easton can be found on the Scottish CX website here.
Further race write ups can be found here:
The success of the race couldn't have been possible without the work of the aforementioned race organisers and the many volunteers who turned up throughout the day to help make the race the huge success it was. Fife College were also extremely generous to allow us to use their land and facilities throughout the day, we can only be thankful for their support with both this and the last CX race we held. Sandy Wallace Cycles sponsored the event for the 2nd year running and provided free mechanic tune ups to the young riders, much appreciated. The stars of the show were the racers who braved the cold and travelled across the country to turn up and get wet and muddy. They all gave it 100% and the smiles on their faces and the numerous messages of praise and support after the race only go to prove how great the Scottish Cyclocross scene is. Now to get planning for next year, remeber yer wellies!
